One of my favorite authentic people, Coach Iyabo, The Authentic Change Coach tagger me about 3 weeks ago. I promised I would do it one weekend and well things happen.  So no long out explanations; just the instructions and answers.

I will say that I am not tagging anyone because I think most of my folks have done it already. Bummer that I am always so late with tags If you want to play then just let me know that you joined in the game by commenting.

25 Things About LaTara

1. I accepted Christ in March of 1989 when I was 20 years old.

2. My mother almost died giving birth to me. I am her youngest.

3. My youngest son almost died while I was giving birth to him.

4. I won the President’s Innovation Award at a well known credit union I worked at in 2002. My idea to have cross department trainings was implemented.

5. I used to be a Mary Kay Representative. Yep me! I know how to apply makeup so well that I have done weddings before.

6. I met and married my husband in three months. We have been married for 6 1/2 years.

7. I have about 30 filled journals. I may turn them into memoirs. I have them all the way from the 10th grade.

8. I was named by one of my sisters.

9. Today I don’t have  strong relationship with any of my siblings. I am not really sure why, but it is what it is. Nothing I can do about it.

10. I was a pretty bad little girl. I think I got a spanking everyday.

11. One time when I was about 5 or 6 I picked up a stop sign poll and tried to hit a little boy who was teasing me.

12. My mother taught me not to run from people. She would say that I had better pick up the first thing I see that would hurt them. One day I did that. There was a little girl who would chase me home everyday. Once my mother told me to not come home crying anymore and to pick up whatever I could, I did just that. She never messed with me again

13. I used to go to the race track every week with my dad. It was our weekly date. I got half of the winnings on any horse I chose that won.

14. When my father was dying, I went to vist him one day. He was pretty out of it because he had cancer that had spread so his brain did not function well. We were not sure if he recognized anyone other than my step-mother. Suddenly out of nowhere, her told me, “T baby you looked so beautiful on the prom picture.” I said thank you ( I had went to my boyfriend’s prom with him that year). He then proceeded to say, “But that boy! If you ever date a boy that ugly again, I will come back and haunt you. ” I never dated an ugly guy again

16. I enjoy playing games like Diner Dash, Soccer Mom, and Cake Mania.

17. My dream luncheon would be to sit at a table with Mary J Blige, Jill Scott, Patti LaBelle, Jada Pinkette Smith, Phylicia Rashad, Micelle Obame, and Maya Angelou. Just some strong girl talk!

19. I am a reality show junkie. Not sure if it is because I was a psychology major or if I am just nosy.

20. I love to wear watches to match my outfits.

21. I like shopping at the Dollar Store and thrift stores have some pretty cool stuff too. I just make sure to go to the decent thirft shops.

21. In my bad days, I was once the cause of a party breaking up because my then ex-boyfriend shot his gun into the ground out of anger. No one was hurt but I had an ex who did not want anyone else with me at the time and someone did something to me that he should not have. That was a scary moment for me.

22. At another time in the days when I was trying to get away from the streets, I helped my brother and his friend fight off about 15 guys. It was 2 to 15 and I was not going to watch my brother get beat up for something silly that his friend did. We were banned from the city of Torrance as a result.  Anothe scary moment.

23. I graduated from an all girl high school in Inglewood, CA.

24. I love anything with cheese in it. That’s why I am glad I mostly vegan. Too much cheese is just not a good thing.

25. I am glad that God saved me from all the mess I was once involved in. Truth be told, LaTara should be dead. Oh but God!
