Book Review
In Girl, Naw! we are introduced to Antoinette; a woman scorned. Despite her efforts to stay away from men forever, after the pain of a devastating breakup, Antoinette is introduced to Maurice who sweeps her off her feet. They become a blended family of four that includes Maurice’s daughter, Destiny and Antoinette’s daughter Terilyn. Together they know that they can makes it because the marriage is God ordained.
As a counselor, Antoinette helps women in pain and she loves every minute of it, no matter how draining it becomes. She knows that God placed her in the position of a healing agent for a reason. However Antoinette has some past issues that she would as soon bury but they come to surface; forcing her to learn the value of forgiveness before she is eaten alive with bitterness and anger. Maurice is her rock through it all but she does not make it easy to do so. The skeletons she must face and the people who come back into her life will challenge her faith.
Girl, Naw! is a great read for anyone who love not only a good book but a relevant story. It ties in the reality of not forgiving and what it can do to your mental health when you don’t let go with the freedom that comes when you learn to simply let it all go. LaCricia A’ngelle did a wonderful job of bringing together the pains of a woman’s soul and giving the reader a process to deal with the pain they may be in and letting it go.
I highly recommend this quick read book to every woman who has ever dealt with the pain of bitterness and the issue of trusting God through it all.
