The other day I wrote a post about the changes that God is taking me through. I talked about being my own brand and basically not being afraid to move forward. My reason for that long post was two-fold.

First I had to share my testimony on moving forward. Secondly I had to show myself that it was really time to just let go. There are too many things Ihave been holding to and I am missing out on the fullness of His blessings by not listening to Him!

I did that out of fear!

I was scared of not being accepted or being looking at strange because I am choosing not to follow the status quo! I was afraid of losing clients or income because I know all too well what poverty looks like. I was scared of stepping out on the faith that has been measured to me. All of these fears stemmed from not wanting to be alone!

A Committed Heart

Meet Rhonda McKnight

I’d like to introduce myself by sharing a little of my journey to publication, because it’s been filled with favor.  I’ve been writing since I was six years old, but became really serious about publication in late 2002. I attended some writers conferences, joined a few writers groups, but still had not committed to finishing a project. On New Year’s Day 2007 I sat down with the Lord and told HIM I wanted a book deal before the end of the year. My novel was in first draft form and needed a lot of rewriting, but I was determined to clean it up and get it in the mail early enough to sell it before the next new year caught me wishing I had.

Principle of Kwanzaa Day 2

What’s the news? Today the news is Kujichagulia  ((koo-jee-cha-goo-LEE-ah) is “Self-Determination”. It means “to define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves and speak for ourselves”.

As I speak to my boys about self-determination I want them to first understand that it is impossible without God at the helm. That in essence your drive to define who you are, to name who you are and to create for yourself without the meddling of man comes from the core of who we are in Christ.

When we are bold in our walk we learn to speak up for who we are, what we do, and how we do it with tact and grace. It becomes the cornerstone of who we are as children of the Creator.

However I want to caution them that self-determination must be handled with a huge dose of humbleness so that pride does not become their downfall.

Today I am thinking about all the benefits of being a well watered woman. I took some time to listen to my good friend, Tony’s new podcast, The Well Watered Woman, and was floored by the revelations, confirmations, and peace I received while listening. I actually found myself wanting more and more. It was such a refreshing listen!

There is definitely a difference in a well watered woman verses a woman who never goes to the true Thirst Quencher. When we go to the Father as we are with no pretenses to simply be filled by Him is it a truly awesome feeling.

A well watered woman understands that everything she is, all the she has and all the she will ever be is only because of God. Tony covers a lot of this in her first episode. I was just reminded of the fact as I listened to what she was pouring into me today.

pattilacy-hiresrszWould you say you are an extrovert or introvert?

An odd combination of both! I love people and crave clattery, chatty coffee bars AS LONG AS I get my three or four hours of solitude to read, write, pray, and think.

Do you like to cook? If so, what are your favorite dishes to cook?

Ooh, do I EVER love to cook. In fact, I wish you were here right now. My mama taught me to rustle up grub without recipes. I’d sauté you some shrimps, throw in diced green and yellow and red peppers and onion and garlic and some of my secret bayou spices, then boil up a pot of pasta and mix it all together. If we need a little creaminess, I’d cut you a chunk of a couple of my favorite cheese (Spain’s Red Dragon, Ireland’s Killian Gold) and let you choose, then grate it and mix that in the dish. We’d toss mixed organic salad greens, slice up some fresh veggies, throw on homemade croutons, pray, and dig in! We Lacys eat like this most nights. Come on over!!
