Give Them Their Flowers Today

Today I may be too sensitive or my hormones are all a rage; but I have been looking at the lopsidedness of a few of my relationships and it got me to thinking. I know, I know when I think it gets pretty deep. Well that is how God wired me and I cannot apologize for it.

Whatever the cause, I have some thoughts and I am going to share them.

When people are alive and we claim to love them we should try our best to show it.Love is something we should show to our family and friends every moment we get. No one knows what tomorrow, or even the next minute, may bring. I tell my family I love them in so many ways. I try to do the same for my friends.

There is a song called “Give Me My Flowers” that I think speaks what I a trying to say so well.

Wow, talk about powerful words. We have to appreciate people while they are here. When they are gone it is too late.

Our own selfishness is what often gets in the way of truly loving and appreciating others. We get in the way of giving people what they deserve when they are so good to us.

If you failed to send a card, give a hug, ask them to come along, help them when they were down, uplift and enourage when they really needed it, or used them like an old white rag for dusting; take a moment to stop where you are, pray, ask forgiveness and try to do better the next time.

For me I need to do more of the following….

Visit blogs that visit me
Send thank you cards and notes
Pick the phone and call someone who always calls me
Tell my husband, even though we are separated at the moment, how thankful I am that he is a good father
Tell my mom thanks for letting my kids and I live with her for now

It does not have to be major but it has to be something.

How can you give some flowers today to those you love and appreciate.
