How Do I Love My Readers? Let Me Count The Ways

215 views No Comment

I was adding a new feature to the sidebar here on Mom Unplugged and I started thinking about my readers. What do I want them to gain from visiting here? How do I want them to be blessed when they visit my little ole’ blog?

As a blogger who is  a mom, some may think that I am supposed to have contest after contest or have buttons up and down my sidebar. Sorry, you will not find that here. I love my readers and the purpose for this blog too much. It started out as a blog to encourage other women to be all that God intended for them to be. I wanted to show them that just because life hands you lemonade, doesn’t mean you have to sit down and wallow in the midst of them. Get up and make some lemonade!

I think the best way to love my readers is not by offering contest after contest, but rather to offer them quality content with contests, giveaways and reviews sprinkled in. I will not bombard you with tons of buttons that run all the way down the sidebar, steering you away from the great content offered here. Not trying to be greedy with what I offer here but I am trying to help my readers stay focused and avoid the utter distraction that often comes from the cluttered sidebars you find on many blogs.

My bottom line with blogging is not to get tons of free stuff to review because I am a business owner who has no other choice but to hustle and make money. I am sure many of my readers are the same. Why burden then with the constant distraction?

I am also not a traffic hoarder. If I get tons of traffic, great. If I don’t and only one person is blessed by something I write on any given day..to God be the Glory!

My readers mean a lot to me. So here is my promise to them…

  • I promise not to have more reviews than the quality content you have come to enjoy.
  • I promise to only offer quality reviews and giveaways. No junk on this blog :)
  • I promise to introduce you to literature that is enjoyable and worth your time to read.
  • I promise to not clutter my site with tons of buttons that will offer you a way to get distracted and off course.
  • I promise not to allow myself to become so excited with the thought of “free” that I forget the reason for this blog or the fact that you, my valued reader is paying attention to what is being read.

Ok, so I know this may take me even lower on the totem pole of Mom Blogger popularity. However, I have come to understand in life that it is more important to be an influence rather than a popular person. I have been on the popular side of life and it was miserable and rather lonely because there was no real connection. Just people who wanted to hang with me because of what they thought I had to offer.

To my reader I say…

“I love that you even think enough of my content to visit Mom Unplugged. I am humbled when I see the number of readers and comments. It does my heart good to know that I call you to action and make you think twice about living life. I will never disrespect you with what I offer here on Mom Unplugged.”

Uhh oh! I am in trouble now  :)
