More CBC with Tricia

Ok I am really late with this one. Tricia over at Dragon Fly Dreams and I have been having a great time getting to know one another.

This week Tricia ask a question that I answer often and love education people about. Her question is:

Will you explain to me more about what a Vegan is and what it is all about?

Now she thought it was a silly question but it is not. It is silly when you don’t seek to understand something and make too many assumptions about something you really don’t know about.

So here is my answer:

A vegan is a person who refrains from all animal derived products. Now in my family and other vegan families honey is consumed because there is a huge misconception that bees are harmed during the harvesting process. Honey is very good for you and has many great health benefits so we eat it and use it for stuff like colds, face scrubs, etc. Plus bees are not animals they are insects…big difference.

I did not become a vegan because I am an animal activist. I became a vegan for dietary reasons.

For some being vegan is all about treating animals right. For me it is all about being as healthy as I can be. Can you be healthy and eat meat. I believe so; if it is the right kind of meat but even then you have to be careful how much meat you consume in a week because of how it digest in your body.

This year I am going to be adding more raw dishes to our family meals with the hopes of becoming even healthier.

I could go on forever but I won’t. I hope this helped you to understand a little more.
