LaTara,

I wrote a post more about the speech than about Senator Obama himself but, like you, I am extremely proud of his nomination.

And yes, you are right. Politics is dangerous because it brings out the true ugliness in people. Code words get used for racism moral values.

Great post, LaTara! I can't stand politics, even though I know it's important to learn about the candidates, because everybody is so quick to find fault with the other person. It's also very difficult to find unbiased info about the candidates and what they stand for because of getting reporters' opinions.

I'm a Republican but am happy to see Obama as the Democratic candidate. It's about time we start to get away from the idea that only white men can be President.

Hi Latara,

I totally agree that this year has been one of the craziest as far as politics go. I too am excited to see history being made and honored to be a part of it.

I am a registered Republic and mainly because I am extremely conservative. Mr. Borack seems to be a great man, but again I do not agree with his stand on homeschooling and that really hits very close to home for my family and I.

I will be voting for McCain because I also believe he is the best candidate for my values and beliefs. This will be an interesting election and either way I hope our country will become a united one no matter what the outcome may be.

In order for our nation to be strong and withstand all the evils from the outside we must remain united and that will in turn make us stronger and more powerful.

Thanks Latara for a great post:)

Its always exciting to see history made, remember where you where when it happened, etc. I think its pretty cool myself.

I agree that there is too much mud-slinging these days and politics is just downright nasty. After living in a very liberal state for 8 years as a conservative activist (i was back then), I've have seen lots of nastiness from BOTH sides. It's what got me out of politics back then to be quite honest.

I wish all peope could just look at the issues, make their decisions and be done. Instead, you have the mainstream media casting their opinions instead of the facts, news producers and cameramen getting assaulted, etc.

I'm proud to say that I am voting for McCain and that I'm a card-carrying Republican. I believe that John is the better candidate for what my morals, values and beliefs. I truly believe that is what is best for myself and my family.

After all, isn't that the basis of everything?

ok LaTara sorry for my mini-rant here.. Thanks for letting me share! : )

Honestly, I'm not much a fan of either candidate this year. I am excited that we made history though. Just like I would have been if a woman was the nominee. I hope in my life time I see a woman just like we're seeing an black man. How much would that rock?

I'm an independent and I just never have a candidate that I can truly get behind and believe in on either side though. So, like always, I'm stuck in a spot where I don't know which one I'd rather have since both sides have me on some issues and totally lose me on others.

I love that Sen. Obama is the nominee! I love what he stands for, the message he sends and how is he raising money to name just a few things.

I like talking politics but often don't. :)
