What Is Your Eating Style
As women we wear many hats and one that many of us have is that of deciding what to feed our families. Sometimes we get it right and other times we are not on target. This month I want to introduce you to five women who have different type of dieting styles.
Convenient Connie is all about quick and fast. As a corporate executive and mom of three boys, Connie’s time is often limited when it comes to feeding her family. Her husband is often traveling for business and so Connie is often the chef and the chauffeur. She finds that the simplest way to feed her boys is to buy boxed and frozen foods. So her typical grocery list is tv dinners, pot pies, fruit cups, hot dogs, lunch meat, and items that take the least amount of time to prepare. In the event that they are going to be out of the house all day, Connie stops by Loco Taco or Jack in the Basket for dinner and she is always sure to have a diet coke with her meals to balance it out. Connie suffers from diabetes, iron deficiency, and she is 40 lbs overweight.
Frantic Frannie is a work at home mom with 4 kids; all of whom are active and full of life. She and her husband run a successful marketing firm; and although Frannie tries to balance it all sometimes everything just seems to run together. There are days when Frannie manages to make well balanced meals that are healthy and great tasting. Then there are days when instead of baking the chicken she will throw boxed fried chicken in the oven and fry some precut seasoned fries or tater tots in the deep fryer. Sometimes things are so haywire at home, Frannie’s husband deems it “junk food” night and they eat chips, dip and Twinkies for dinner. Frannie keeps a bar of chocolate at her desk and drinks coffee through out the day to “stabilize”. Frannie’s anxiety disorder sometimes keeps her up at night and there are times when she and her husband have the hardest times getting the kids to calm down and go to sleep.
Dieting Dana is a single woman working and a journalist for her local town paper. Dana prides herself on eating right. Her kitchen is filled with low fat, sugar free items and Splenda is her sweetener of choice. At work she eats her low fat Lean Cuisine lunch everyday and has a Weight Watchers fudge pop as a snack. As a treat when she eats her daily salad, she adds a huge helping of blue cheese dressing. When Dana goes out to eat with her friends, she orders a salad and large tea with Splenda or whatever artificial sweetener they may have. Dana’s fibromyalgia often keeps her from traveling with her friends and her migraines seem to never go away. She deals with her high blood pressure by sleeping more than normal.
Junky Janet loves Oreos, chocolate, chips with dip, and eating on the go. They know her well at Mickey Dees. Janet is a single mom with one son who loves to walk down to the corner burger stand for some pastrami chili fries. Janet works from home as a Virtual Assistance and she often spends her entire day in front of the computer working with a large glass of Pepsi at her desk. When it is time to fix dinner, Janet will throw some hots dogs in a pot or send her son to the burger stand for a double cheese burger special. She opts out of dinner and eats a bag of chips with ranch dip. They finish the night with a bowl of vanilla ice cream. Janet and her son have recently had some extensive dental work done, her son has juvenile diabetes, and Janet herself has a hard time navigating through her home with her brand new walker she got last month after being diagnosed with chronic pain in her legs.
Wholesome Wanda is a substitute teacher who has been married for 10 years and has 2 children. Three years ago she and her husband planted a garden filled with vegetables and even a few fruit trees. She shops for organic products and makes sure that all grain products are whole grain or sprouted. After being diagnosed with Panic Disorder, Wanda decided to leave caffeine alone and started juicing fresh fruit and vegetables. Now her attacks are far and few between. Instead of buying cookies and cakes from the store, Wanda will make healthy snack for her kids and her husband , who has lost 50 lbs and has 40 more to go, has learned how to make cakes from scratch with whole food items. Wanda goes to the local farmer’s market on Sunday mornings for produce not in her garden.
Our cooking and dieting style will often determine what the health of our family will be. The very life we live depends on the food we eat. Food was created for a specific reason -to help us live.
What’s your style?

What about if I’m a little of all of the above (except Dieting Diana – that fake sugar stuff can’t get into my house). Looking forward to some more advice in your next posts (I’m hooked)!

Trying really hard to be Wanda.
Dieting Diana is my polar opposite. Diet is a 4 letter word that starts with DIE. And fat is my friend. lol

Thanks Ladies!
Sharon, I think I am going to take each woman and break down her eating habits, hoe she can change or enhance them and how to reverse specific diseases. I have a project I am working on just for women. It is a secret now but look for it this summer.
Carrie, LOL…I have never looked at the word “diet” like that.
Can I be somewhere in the middle of all of these???

Christinas last blog post..The Great Toe Debate
Alyssa, yes you can fall somewhere in between, but realistically you are more like one than others. That is for you to truly decide.
Christina, it will be a very healthy project for women and I am looking forward to it
I solved the eating problem a long time ago – my husband cooks for the kids. It works great for everyone; the kids love his food and he loves cooking!
For myself, I live on Costco Rotessiere Chicken. It’s very versatile.
Enjoy,
Barbara

Found you through the Flower Hunt
I am mostly Wholesome Wanda. I rarely indulge in junk or garbage. I make homemade meals every night and usually they are prepared with items we have grown, ground, or somehow made from scratch. My kids complain and I think I am doing them a big favor. They wish we would go out to eat once in a while and get greasy fries. Oh, and we don’t buy or drink “pop”. Sounds strange, but we don’t.
BTW, found your scavanger hunt graphic in this post.
